If you are coming for the Art and culture, then allow a little extra time – there is so much to see and do. Charles Rennie Mackintosh is one of the world’s most famous architects and Glasgow and the surrounding district presents many fine examples of his work, from the beautiful ‘House for an Art Lover’ at Bellahouston Park, to ‘Scotland School Street Museum’, which is well worth a visit for a trip down memory lane to the good old days, before mortgages and working for a living! You can almost hear the ringing of the school bell and the shrill of the headmistress! There are nearly 20 museums managed by the city’s Culture and Sport department. All offer free entry (some are closed on Mondays) and make for a fun, yet educational day out.
